چکیده

An analytical approach to the phase transformation in d-dimensional grains-containing complex systems is o ered. It is based on considering the mechanism of surface material exchange among neighbouring grains as the so-called state-dependent di usion process, where the diffusion function is related to the magnitude of the grain circumference. The approach proposed deals with the kinetics of that ensemble under circumstances of a volume increase of the new phase or microstructure. Probabilistic characteristics of the process are derived and analyzed. A comparison with 2d modelling of similar kind is presented for 3d case, and some possible practical realizations of the situation under study are discussed.

Multi phase field model for solid state transformation with elastic strain

A multi phase field model is presented for the investigation of the effect of transformation strain on the transformation kinetics, morphology and thermodynamic stability in multi phase materials. The model conserves homogeneity of stress in the diffuse interface between elastically inhomogeneous phases, in which respect it differs from previous models. The model is formulated consistently with...

Nonmonotone Waves in a Three Species Reaction-diiusion Model

This paper establishes the existence of a nonmonotone travelling wave for a reaction-diiusion system modeling three competing species. General existence results for travelling waves in higher dimensional systems depend on monotonicity and therefore do not apply to the result obtained here. The proof demonstrates an application of the homotopy invariant, the connection index, to a higher dimensi...

Phase-Transformation of Gamma-Allumina to Alpha-Alumina as an Industrial Catalyst Support

The phase transformation of aluminum hydrates yields various forms of alumina (d, q, K) and eventually alpha-alumina. The decrease in the specific surface area of alumina upon heat treatment is due to changes in crystalline structure and hence a decrease in the porosity of the material, Although the conversion of gamma-alumina to alpha-structure takes place with a lowering in surface area and p...

We consider two model reaction diiusion systems of bistable type arising in the theory of phase transition; they appear in various physical contexts such as thin magnetic lms and diblock copolymers. We prove the convergence of the solution of these systems to the solution of free boundary problems involving modiied motion by mean curvature.

ON THE FORMATION OF STRAY GRAINS IN DIRECTIONALLY-SOLIDIFIED NI-BASED SUPERALLOYS WITH VARYING CROSS SECTIONS

Formation of stray grain defects particularly around re-entrant features of the turbine blade airfoils is one of the major problems in directional and single crystal solidification processes. In this work, directional solidification tests of the GTD-111 Ni-based superalloy were conducted at different withdrawal velocities of 3, 6 and 9 mm.min-1 using various stepped cylindrical and cubic design...
